Lynn H. Bates, APR, CPRC bio: 

Lynn Hobeck Bates, APR, CPRC, is a strategic and accredited communications professional. As the Vice President of External Relations at Selby Gardens, Lynn serves in a senior leadership role directing all communications, marketing, website, and public relations priorities for the two-campus organization. During her tenure, she has successfully launched a new brand upon the adoption of a companion campus for the organization, led communications for the City Commission’s passage of the Master Plan for the Downtown Sarasota campus, and works to increase positive visibility, visitation and earned revenue to the Gardens. Prior to this role, she was the Communications/PR Manager at Visit Sarasota County overseeing communications, media relations and PR agencies in three countries. She is a sought-out communications leader and has served as the past Chair of VISIT FLORIDA’s Global Communications Committee and Past President of the local Florida Public Relations Association Central West Coast chapter. Her results-driven focus has earned her numerous awards including being named a Women in Business Finalist by SRQ Magazine, Tampa Bay Business Journal’s 40 under 40 Up & Comers Finalist in 2017, honorable mention in PR Daily’s Media Relations Awards in 2014, and several Florida Public Relations Association Image Awards.  She earned her B.S. in Psychology cum laude with honors from James Madison University and a M.Ed. from Vanderbilt University. She has lived in Sarasota for 16 years with her husband and their nine year-old daughter.
