With the ever-evolving use of social media, the role of public relations professionals has also shifted. Our increasingly connected world now relies on social media platforms to bridge  directly with companies and brands. Now more than ever, it is crucial to proactively engage with social media users through these platforms to maintain reputation management, facilitate relationships with the public and identify potential problems that could arise. More importantly, it is important to reflect and evaluate social media strategies and tactics that have been used to help predict emerging trends and best practices as platforms continue to evolve.

Bios of Panelists:

 

Kim Livengood, APR, CPRC 

Kim Livengood, APR, CPRC is a public relations professional who co-owns and operates multiple businesses in Sarasota. A graduate of The University of Florida’s Journalism School she kicked off her career by creating and publishing a monthly magazine for eight years.  This serial entrepreneur successfully sold three businesses, including a women’s clothing store and boutique hotel. She spent five years in-house at Tervis leading their public relations efforts before going out on her own. Kim serves on the local and state board of the Florida Public Relations Association and the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce. Her primary business, The Bazaar on Apricot & Lime, an indie market home to more than 40 creators and curators, was featured on ABC National news Inspiring America and Good Morning America by leveraging social media. 

 

 

Molly Scott

Molly has over twenty years of experience working in corporate marketing, communications, public relations, branding and business development. As Manager of Strategic Development, for Chris-Tel Construction, Molly is responsible for new client development, overseeing pre construction efforts and coordination, developing and managing the implementation of the overall corporate marketing strategy and plan, managing all business development opportunities for the firm as well as overseeing the implementation of corporate objectives and future growth strategy. She also serves as the internal Public Information Officer (PIO) for the firm on select private projects.Molly is a graduate of West Virginia University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She serves on the Horizon Council as the Associated Builders and Contractors Representative, serves on the Board of Directors for the Cape Coral Chamber of Commerce, serves on the Associated Builders and Contractors Gulf Coast Chapter Advisory Council for Southwest Florida, is a member of the Department of Management Advisory Council at Florida Gulf Coast University, a member of the Sports Tourism Committee for the Horizon Council, a long-time member of the Advisory Board for the Pi Mu Chapter of Chi Omega at Florida Gulf Coast University (currently serving as the Director of Programming and Career and Personal Development Advisor for the chapter) and is a member of the Society for Marketing Professional Services. 

Molly is past Chairman of the Construction Advisory Committee for the Lee County School District and a past member of the Board of Governors for the Real Estate Investment Society (REIS) here in Southwest Florida.

Molly resides in Fort Myers, Florida with her husband Chris and sons Gavin and Garrett.

 

Alyssa Young

Alyssa Young is a public relations and marketing professional. She graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with a degree in communication and a concentration in public relations. Since graduation, Alyssa has worked at Lee Health in the marketing department as a Social Media Coordinator and a Senior Project Manager. While in her social role, she coordinated countless local news stories and was picked up nationally by NBC News Nightly with Lester Holt, The Washington Post, Fox News and other outlets. Alyssa managed 26 social media accounts, including senior leadership for Lee Health. Due to her social strategy she:

Steve Doane, APR

Steve is the Strategic Communications Supervisor at Arthrex, a global company focused on the research, design and manufacture of minimally invasive surgical technology. In this role he leads the development and execution of integrated communications and marketing campaigns, including paid and organic social media, to support global business objectives. 

Steve started his career as a newspaper reporter before transitioning to agency and corporate public relations. He is accredited in public relations and currently serves as the Treasurer for the Southwest Florida Chapter of FPRA.
