The SWFL FPRA chapter’s annual Media Breakfast is one of our chapter’s most highly anticipated events of the year. This year the event brings a whole new expert group of panelist representing local, regional and nationwide markets.

Included in our program:

  • Presentations from three of top influencers and decision makers in media
  • A chance to talk one-on-one with our featured experts
  • A visit from the Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce and a surprise for our local members
  • Networking and an opportunity to get to know your SWFL FPRA chapter better

Left, Right, Center – A Balanced Approach to Unbiased Reporting

AllSides offers a refreshing approach to expose bias in news and provide multiple angles on the same story so readers can quickly get the full picture, not just one slant.

AllSides ensures balanced news and civil discourse through their editorial philosophy and patented system for identifying bias so that they can transparently reveal and balance bias. Notably, they give their audience the ability to rate various media outlets and their stories as left, right or center, engaging their audience, and educated readers on biases.

John has over 20 years of technology entrepreneurship, management and executive experience, leading product, marketing and consumer teams and divisions. He served on the original teams for Microsoft Office, Mozilla at Netscape, and ZoneAlarm at Check Point Software.

Back to Basics for Quality Reporting

WGCU Public Media is Southwest Florida’s source for PBS and NPR. WGCU provides quality programming 24-hours a day and is a trusted storyteller, teacher, theater, library and traveling companion. As a member-supported service of Florida Gulf Coast University, WGCU’s mission is to provide educational programming that inspires, informs and engages our community.

Julie Glenn is the host of Gulf Coast Live. She has been working in southwest Florida as a freelance writer since 2007, most recently as a regular columnist for the Naples Daily News. She began her broadcasting career in 1993 as a reporter/anchor/producer for a local CBS affiliate in Quincy, Illinois.
