Phyllis Ershowsky, APR, CPRC, principal of PKE Marketing and PR Solutions LLC was recently named “PR Professional of the Year” and “Chapter Member of the Year” by the Florida Public Relations Association, Southwest Florida Chapter, in recognition of her outstanding commitment of time and energy to ensure the success of the PR profession and local chapter.

She has been an active member of FPRA since 1993 and is currently serving as the chapter’s VP of community relations. One of the major goals she accomplished this year was to foster closer relations between the Gulf Coast Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and FPRA, encouraging members of each to participate in the other at member rates. Working with PRSA leadership this year, Ms. Ershowsky reconfigured the former “Pro-Bono Day” annual event into a new event called the “Community Showcase” that benefited 90 area nonprofit leaders. She and her team also planned and led this year’s Media Breakfast that provided news media tips and insights to local businesses seeking publicity.

Ms. Ershowsky moved to Florida in 1993 from New York. She founded PKE Marketing & PR Solutions in 2008, an innovative, strategy-based, results-oriented firm, following 15 years with another area marketing/PR agency. She has an MBA from Dowling College, a BA in English from Vassar College, and serves on several area boards, including the Bonita Springs Area Chamber of Commerce, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, AMI Kids, Southwest Florida Division, and Vassar College Alumni Committee for Southwest Florida chapter.

Established in 1938, FPRA is the oldest public relations organization in the country. FPRA is dedicated to developing public relations practitioners who, through ethical and standardized practices, enhance the public relations profession in Florida. The next meeting is on September 17, 2013. For more information about the Southwest Florida chapter, visit https://www.fpraswfl.org.
