The Southwest Florida Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) will welcome Scott Robertson, CAI, BAS as its speaker for the January lunch meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel at the Bell Tower Shops in Fort Myers. Robertson will present “Emerging Trends and Myth Busting for Fundraising Auctions,” reviewing strategies and field-proven techniques for holding a benefit auction. In the last year, charitable causes have raised more than $110 billion worldwide through benefit auctions.

Robertson is a 20-year veteran auctioneer and principal of Scott Robertson Event Fundraising Consultants/Auctioneers. As a full-time professional Benefit Auctioneer, Robertson conducts 60 to 70 fundraising auctions annually, raising more than $20 million last year. He is one of an estimated 30 auctioneers in the country who make fundraising auctions their full-time profession. Scott has earned the Benefit Auctioneer Specialist (BAS) designation from the National Auctioneers Association, less than 1 percent of auctioneers in the country have earned this designation.

The cost to attend the luncheon meeting is $20 for members, $25 for non-members and $10 for students with advance reservations. Reservations can be made by visiting www.fpraswfl.org. Walk-ins are welcome for an additional $5. The advance reservations deadline is Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014.
