Learning Together

Dear FPRA Family,

Of our four chapter values, learning may be the most essential. It’s the reason many of us joined FPRA in the first place – to learn things we didn’t know before, to sharpen the tools we already have, and to grow in both confidence and capability.

In public relations, learning isn’t a one-time event; platforms shift, audiences evolve, and the expectations keep rising. To stay effective, we have to (in Ted Lasso’s words) be curious; and as a chapter, we’ve built a culture that makes continuous learning not just possible, but meaningful.

This year, we’ve created opportunities to learn in every format: from virtual seminars to in-person tours, to peer-to-peer conversations. We’ve seen how ethics in PR is rarely black and white, and why having a strong foundation matters more than ever. We’ve toured the Harry Chapin Food Bank and later this month, the Lee County Emergency Operations Center, to understand how PR professionals lead in times of crisis and need. We’ve explored how AI is reshaping our profession, and how customer complaints can become a pathway to trust.

But the value of learning isn’t just in what we absorb. It’s in how we apply it. It’s in how we show up better for our teams, our organizations, and our communities. It’s in how we build relationships, solve problems, and elevate the role of communication.

I encourage you to keep that spirit of learning alive at the PR & Comms Summit. Coming up August 3–6 at the Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando, Summit is the premier professional development event for PR pros in Florida. It’s a chance to stretch, grow, and connect with some of the brightest minds in our field.

I hope to see you there so we can keep learning – together.

Warmly,
